Lunistice
Major Lunar Standstill
Did you notice this Gemini Full Moon and where it rose on the horizon from your place, or the extreme high it reached in the Northern Hemisphere or how low it remained in the heavens in the Southern Hemisphere?
Well every 18.6 years we experience the Major Lunar Standstill which is peaking now and into early 2025, with the Moon by declination reaching its furthest point from the Celestial Equator and its furthest Northern latitude from the Sun. With the Sun at its extremes now at the Solstice, this is the furthest North of East we see the Moon rise in an 18.6 year cycle.
Although the Moon will still be reaching maximum reach when at the end of Gemini and Sagittarius (the GC) twice a month in the next few Months, the Moon won't be full.
The last major lunar standstill was June 2006. Since mid 2020 the Moon has been moving out of bounds every month. The last minor lunar standstill was in October 2015 the next in 18.6 years time in March 2034.
Major lunar standstill happens when the Lunar Node North Node its at zero Aries and the minor lunar standstill happens when the Lunar North Node is at 0° Libra. Lunar Out Of Bound periods begin when the North Node is 0° Zero Cancer and end when the North Node is at 0° Capricorn. This current OOB period ending in Sept 2029.
This peak Lunistice coinciding closely to the Solstice makes this period we are living through a peak, a crescendo a culmination of built up energy!!
