Cosmic Rebirth
New Moon Sagittarius
Think cosmically, live magically.
There are many reasons to use astrology as a living, thriving language in our lives . Astrology invites us to lift our gaze, to remember that we are part of something vast, rhythmic, and intelligent.
Just before the Solstice this year, a New Moon is birthed at the Galactic Centre. This lunation carries an unmistakable sense of liberation. The Moon is Out of Bounds, disrupting the usual symmetry of syzygy, while Mars is also Out of Bounds, beyond the path of the Sun, lending this New Moon a feeling of breaking free from familiar limits.
This lunation also squares Neptune and is in an inconjunct aspect to Uranus in Taurus, creating a sense of forced dreaming, or a nudge to get out of the rut and allow imagination to awaken. Under Uranus’ influence in Taurus, we are asked to consider what we are holding onto that may be weighing down our dreams.
Venus and Mars play the balancing act on either side of the Sun, teaming up for their crescendo in January, this time Venus in Sagittarius squares off to Saturn in Pisces, signalling a time of restraint and caution, with ruler Jupiter in Cancer holding over the fort. What once felt stabilising may now feel restrictive. Yet this New Moon invites a loosening of attachments, a reassessment of values, and the courage to make space for something new to emerge.
Jupiter squares off to Chiron at this time too as as the new Moon also squares Neptune and Saturn. May this New Moon open pathways of curiosity, faith, and adventure inner and outer, and awaken the wizard and shaman within.
At this New Moon in Sagittarius, born at 28° if front of the Galactic Center. At the Galactic Centre, we are reminded of our own galaxy centered around it, that great bulge in our milky way, full and bursting with the potential of all existence, our attention is naturally drawn upward and outward. Sagittarius reminds us that meaning is found through exploration of ideas, landscapes, beliefs, and horizons yet unseen, from this deep cosmic source point, we seed new projects, plans, and devise freedom trails.
At the same time, as Comet 3i Atlas makes its closest approach to Earth, we can’t help but pause in awe. These celestial visitors are messengers from deep time, stirring humility, wonder, and a renewed sense of belonging to the cosmos.
Happy New Moon to all who are travelling, in body, mind, or spirit.
